Event Information
The 175th Australia Day Regatta, the world’s oldest continuously conducted annual sailing Regatta, will take place throughout the afternoon, with events for all classes of yachts and 18ft skiffs, conducted by the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron on behalf of the Australia Day Regatta Inc.
To mark the 175 Regatta, Traditional and Classic Yachts from around the nation, some up to a century old, are being invited to take part in this historic event. Among them will be the Ranger class of gaff rigged boats. Historical skiffs also will be competing.
In addition to the main Harbour Regatta, a large fleet of ocean racing yachts will be racing to Botany Bay and return for the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s City of Sydney Sesquicentenary Trophy.
Australia Day Satellite Regattas will be held on the Parramatta and Lane Cove Rivers, at Manly and Rose Bay and on coastal waterways and lakes including Lake Macquarie, Brisbane Waters, Pittwater, Botany Bay, Broken Bay, Lake Illawarra and for the first time, on Hobart’s River Derwent, Tasmania, where the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania will conduct the Australia Day Green Island Race.
In addition to many prestigious Perpetual Trophies, winners of major events will receive a mounted medallion specially struck to mark the 175 Australia Day Regatta. Placegetters in each event will receive the Australia Day Regatta Medallion.
