Event Information

Denise N. Rall presents an installation of costumed mannequins that explores the realm of contemporary engagement between 'the dress' and how it stages the bride as a confection of lace, fabric and desire.

The exhibition constructs a discourse between contradictory notions of the bridal costume. In wearing 'the dress', the bride occupies the centre of a vampire-like 'feeding frenzy' where both media and audience feast on her as an object of consumption.

Miss Casper batchelor joins the exhibition with an exploration of an era of lush decorative beauty in her own imaginary 'time travel machine'. The exhibition will also include selected works from the Lismore Group, NSW Embroiderers Guild.

The launch event for this exhibition will be held on Saturday, 25th February, 2012 at 3.00pm. The Mayor of Lismore, Jenny Dowell and Adele Wessel from Southern Cross University will launch the exhibition. RSVP to the gallery by COB Friday, 24th February if interested in attending.
