In January 2012, Australia's premier country music festival will celebrate 40 years with the theme 'looking forward looking back'. Recognising and paying tribute to the rich heritage of the Tamworth Country Music Festival through specially curated concerts, a theatrette showcasing footage from the past 39 years and exhibitions around town as part of the events program.
It is a chance to experience Australia's country music artists at their best, with huge names in country music coming along to do what they do best - entertain and create an atmosphere like no other! As well as all of the big names that come along, the Festival draws its attention to the future, and those rising country music stars with premier talent quests such as The Telstra Road to Discovery and Toyota Star Maker.
During the 10 days the atmosphere is casual and relaxed. The seasoned attendees can be spotted pulling up their deck chairs in Peel Street and the surrounding parks and venues to enjoy their favourite artist performing. With even the biggest names in country music taking a stroll around to soak up the festivities and enjoy what the Festival has to offer.
As the sun sets on Tamworth, the atmosphere rises and the entertainment venues really start to heat up for the long evenings of fun and festivities. Pubs, clubs, and cafes overflow with festival goers letting their hair down and enjoying the night life.
Rain, hail or shine, nothing can put a dampener on the 40th anniversary of the 2012 Jayco Tamworth Country Music Festival.
