Event Information
Come into the Garden on Sunday 4 March for Autumn Vibes - the launch of this year's Sydney Morning Herald Autumn of the Arts. Be part of this festive and fun day showcasing the plant collections of the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney. Enjoy mucic, food, dance, culture and interpretation linked to the bio-geographic origins of horticultural displays.
The Garden's living collection has been developed over the last 195 years encompassing plants from around the world. Hear the stirring harmonies of a Pacific Island choral performance as well as exciting and captivating performances by Mathew Doyle (didgeridoo), Riley Lee (shakuhachi - Japanese flute), Ying Liu (erhu - Chinese violin), Gerard Willems (piano) and the thunderous rhythms of TaikOz drums. Enjoy Indian, Indigenous and Fijian dance performances by Lingalayam Dance Company, Urban Island Chicks and Duavata Fiji Dance Group.
The Palace Rose Garden with its beautiful flush of roses and seductive scent filling the air with romance makes this a wonderful setting for a classical performance of flower inspired compositions played by musicians from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Join the Volunteer Guides who have designed a special music themed walk revealing the sounds of plants nestled in the beds of the Garden, Water Wind Wood - Music in Nature.
Visit the Autumn Vibes village and immerse yourself in the buzz of musicians, performers, stalls and activities. Discover what wonderful pleasures lie ahead in the Sydney Morning Herald Autumn of the Arts Festival at all three estates - the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney, the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, Mount Tomah and the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan.
Children of all ages are invited to the Lantern Painting, Palm Frond Weaving, Boomerang Painting and other activities to be held throughout the day. Sign up on the day with a gold coin donation.
Experience a traditional Japanese tea ceremony in the beautiful setting of the Garden conducted by the Chado Urasenke Tankokai Sydney Association. Also discover the splendour of an Ikebana installation created by the renowned Sogetsu School of Ikebana, the Japanese art of floral arrangement.
